75th Anniversary of the MAEC-AECID Grants and Assistanceships
On the 3rd of February the 75th anniversary of the grants and assistanceships given by the Spanish Agency for Cooperation and Development (AECID), which belongs to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC) will be held in Madrid, Spain.
The Department of University and Scientific Cooperation mainly manages the MAEC-AECID Grants and Assistantships. There are three calls for grants: for foreign citizens, for Spanish citizens, and for stays at the Academy of Spain in Rome. The grants programmes encompass programmes aimed at development cooperation, as well as those promoting culture and the arts. The Assistantships programme, which has a long tradition, continues to represent the Directorate’s main contribution to promoting Spanish abroad.
The Department of Cultural Cooperation and Promotion concentrates on the cultural activities of the Spain’s network of Embassies and Cultural Centres around the world. This department establishes guidelines in cultural promotion abroad, developing AECID’s strategy in cultural development cooperation, particularly through the Heritage and ACERCA (human resources capacity-building) programmes, and other kinds of instruments and grants. The AECID Libraries (Hispanic and Islamic), as well as AECID publications, also fall under the aegis of this department.
